Five Seasonal Design Tips to Turn Your Home into a Winter Wonderland

There’s no better time of year to tweak your interior design than the holiday season; it’s the perfect opportunity to unleash your creative side. From ice-cold blues and whites, to cosy reds and greens, add your favourite seasonal colours and transform your living space into a winter wonderland!

Add natural textures

A great way to instantly add seasonal style is by incorporating natural textures. Dry leaves, bark, long-stemmed pine branches, pine cones and holly can be hung from rafters or added around windows for an elegant look that doesn’t require much effort. A centrepiece can be easily made using these materials, and adding a few drops of seasonal essential oil will add to the festive ambience.

Incorporate fireplaces into your decor

A fireplace instantly adds an inviting, warm tone and, even if not in use, can add a festive feel to your living space. If you don’t use your fireplace, you could decorate it with natural materials, such as wooden logs, for a traditional Christmas feel, or add tapered and pillar candles for sparkly, cosy evenings.

Get crafty

If you love getting crafty, why not put your skills to use and create unique decorations for your home? Thread scavenged materials together for a unique hanging decoration, or dry slices of orange to hang on your Christmas tree. Make paper snowflakes, and pompoms in colours that will accentuate your decor.

Light it up

String lights are an inexpensive way of adding festive atmosphere to your home. Fill your hallway with long strands of light for a warm welcome home, and add homeliness to your living space by threading lights around shelves and on your mantlepiece. For a contemporary look, neon tree lights will add a fashionable sparkle to bookshelves or picture frames.

Soft furnishings

Soft furnishings can really make or break a room. A wonderful way of bringing Christmas into your home is by changing your cushion covers and throws. Opt for snuggly textures, such as faux sheepskin, or festive colours to keep your home feeling warm and cosy through the chilly winter months.
